During the summer of 1972 Mike and Linda Winter lead a group of 18 students to England and Wales for a month. The very enthusiastic group had the trip of a lifetime. Little did Mike and Linda know but they were one of the first companies to bring cyclists to Europe from North America. Then, in the late 1970's they expanded and offered ski trips and became Spokes n’ Boards. A few years later they returned to a cycling-only company and became Going Places Cycling Club.

With the growing enthusiasm for fitness, coupled with an epicurean lifestyle and cultural enrichment, the cycling holiday became increasingly popular as it satisfied the discriminating traveller. In 1985, when adults began to catch on to the joys and excitement of travel by bike, Cycleventures was born.

In 2006, Mike and Linda handed over the helm to their son, Chris, who owns and operates an innovative mountain bike tour company, Big Mountain Bike Adventures.
