For over three decades, founders Mike and Linda Winter and a
dedicated team of leaders created and guided world class cycling
tours throughout Europe and North America. They had passion;
passion for great cycling, adventure, history and culture, delicious
food and especially people. They truly loved to research a new
region and share it with their guests and friends on a bicycle.
This passion was contagious as guests returned to Cycleventures
year after year.
Today, Cycleventures’ leaders run trips with the same passion
and flavour that make our trips unique. Our leaders are people
that you’d want to cycle with, go out to dinner with and
share a laugh with. They take pride in connecting you with the
local culture, showing you a few secret spots along the way and
ensuring that your trip runs smoothly from the moment that they
pick you up at the airport to the moment they drop you off.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Richard is now happily tucked in
the mountains of Whistler, BC. His relaxed, friendly and passionate
demeanor is contagious. “I love to see people challenge
themselves and overcome that little voice that says you
can’t do it and tackle a mountain pass or a longer
ride. It’s that sense of adventure is what keeps us going,” says
Richard. “I hope that when people finish a trip with
me they say, that was a trip of a lifetime!”

Joe likes to have fun and it shows when he’s leading a
trip. He’s also patient, caring and sincere and works hard
behind the scenes to ensure that your day runs smoothly. Born
and raised in Nelson, BC and still living there, he is a professional
alpine skiing guide in the winter and also a lead guide with
Big Mountain Bike Adventures. Join Joe on a trip and you’ll
be very happy indeed.

On that first Cycleventures trip in the summer of 1972, 5-year
old Sean was happily riding on the back of his father Mike’s
bike while exploring the English countryside. Since then Sean
has been on countless trips throughout the decades, as participant
and guide. He brings an amazing wealth of knowledge and experience
to our trips, from logistics to planning and over-the-top,
heartfelt service. When he’ not riding his bike with
Cycleventures, he’s teaching secondary students at a
Vancouver school.

Like his brother Sean, Chris spent his life cycling with the
family and guests to far away places. He also owns and operates
Big Mountain Bike Adventures, is the Executive Director and
Founder of a Whistler-based charity called Zero Ceiling, skis
professionally and is a freelance journalist for skiing and
mountain biking publications.

Born and raised on a farm in the beautiful West Kootenays of British Columbia, Carla went directly from the cradle to the saddle; first on horses then on bikes. While completing her degree in Art History from the University of Calgary, mountain biking in the Rockies became an addiction. Horticultural studies then led her to the West Coast where she discovered the pleasures of road riding. In the winter, her passion for skiing finds her working in a backcountry ski lodge where she shares her knowledge of yoga and her contagious laughter with the guests. Loved for her energy and enthusiasm, Carla is sure to make your experience culturally rewarding and fun.
